A chunk of amethyst left rough around the sides, with the top cut and polished into a point. That polished top is where the colour shows best: a deep, even violet with a bright patch of white running through it, and a paler zone near the tip where the light gets in. The rough sides show the stone as it came out the mine, in a darker mottled grey-violet, so the piece reads half wild and half worked.
It's a solid, weighty little piece and it stands on its flat base without rocking. Good in the hand, and good on a shelf where the point catches the light.

Care: Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Amethyst fades in prolonged direct sun, so keep it out of strong sunlight.
