Celtic Knot Wood Box

A rectangular wooden box in hand-carved mango wood, with a Celtic knot design worked into the lid and metal detailing along the edges. Handmade in India, one at a time.

Material: Mango wood and metal.

What it's for: Tarot and oracle decks, crystals, incense, jewellery or letters. Anything you'd rather keep out of sight but close to hand. The three sizes nest inside each other, so if you collect the set they store away neatly. 

Why mango wood: Mango farming is big business in India. Mango trees grow quickly but stop producing quality fruit after 8–10 years, when they must be cut and replanted. Rather than discarding the wood and letting it rot, farmers sell it to local carvers to make boxes and incense burners like these. It gives the local community extra income and reduces the harvesting of other wild woods.

Handmade: Every piece is individually handcrafted and hand-finished. Slight variations in colour, finish, grain and small imperfections are inherent to handmade craftsmanship, making each box one of a kind.

Care: Dust with a dry cloth. Keep out of damp rooms and away from direct heat.
