A clear quartz skull carved at 4cm, small enough to close your hand around. Quartz is a hard stone and it takes a crisp carve, so the eye sockets and the nasal hollow are cut cleanly, the crown is polished smooth and rounded, and the teeth are picked out along the jaw. Light passes straight through it, so it takes on a glow by a window or in candlelight.
It isn't flawless glass. There are soft internal lines and faint cloudy patches where the stone grew, mostly around the top of the skull, and a milky tone through the lower jaw. That's quartz being itself.
Condition: There is a deep scratch across the underside of the base. It doesn't show while the skull is standing, and it takes nothing away from it on display but I'd rather you knew it was there.
Size: 4cm.
Care: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Quartz is hard, but it isn't unbreakable, so don't knock it against anything.
