Rainbow Fluorite Butterfly

A butterfly ornament with wings cut from natural rainbow fluorite, mounted on a black metal frame with curled antennae and a pierced round base. The wings are shaped in two pairs, broad at the top and scalloped below, so the outline reads like the real thing.

This piece shows fluorite at its most banded. Clear and milky white runs in ribbons through soft purple, with deeper violet gathering towards the outer edges. The cut is thin, so the colour shifts as the light moves across it.

Stone: Natural rainbow fluorite. Mined in Riemvasmaak, South Africa.

Size: Approximately 10cm across the wings.

Mount: Black metal frame and stand.

Care: Wipe the wings with a soft, dry cloth. Fluorite is a soft stone, so keep it away from water, perfume and household cleaners, and handle it by the stand rather than the wings.
